A new home for emergency preparedness and public safety.
Will County
1/1
The Will County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is responsible for coordinating emergency and disaster mitigation, as well as preparedness, planning response, and recovery efforts of Will County in conjunction with the State of Illinois and other entities. The Will County EMA was previously operating out of two separate buildings that were not their own to house their vehicle fleet as well as a training program. The County was in need of a facility to protect their significant investment in emergency vehicles, as well as a training center for their staff and volunteers in their mission of continued enhancement of public safety.
Wight worked with the County to consolidate their operations in an approximately 11,500 sf new building dedicated to EMA. The building houses a Mobile Command Vehicle and other fleet vehicles used in emergency situations. The climate-controlled, seven-bay vehicle storage area provides ample space for the fleet and accessory support such as battery charging and dispatch notification. With direct access to the vehicle storage area, there is also a training room, kitchenette, and support offices. The EMA building is located on the same site as the Will County Animal Control facility designed and planned by Wight concurrently with EMA. The shared site planning helped reduce cost as well as contributed to an overall County Agency Campus of these two facility additions to the adjacent exiting Sheriff’s Office and Division of Transportation buildings.
