The newly renovated Weinberg Family Recreation Center is a home to various outdoor and indoor recreational activities, multi-purpose rooms, and before and after-school care programs. Featuring two outdoor ice rinks, it has been a cherished destination for residents of all ages during the winter months.
Extensive remodeling, including the addition of an elevator, has activated the previously inaccessible second floor and along with a new addition, has tripled the amount of available indoor recreation spaces. New welcoming reception desk and skates rental space, a lounge area, and improved viewing areas for the ice rinks has enhanced the overall flow and user experience within the facility.
For skating enthusiasts, the renovated outdoor ice rinks now feature new dasher boards, repairs to the refrigerated concrete, and other essential infrastructure improvements. Adding to the atmosphere, a new outdoor wood-burning fireplace provides both warmth and ambiance.
The main street-facing entry has been upgraded with a new sliding doors to facilitate entry during busy times while maintaining a design that blends in with the traditional residential appearance of the building. The side entry to Kids Corner has been given a more contemporary approach, featuring a secure vestibule and new multi-use spaces tailored specifically for children and teens, zoned separately from the rest of the facility’s activities. Inspired by child-like drawings of houses, this new entry and two story addition extends from the traditional roof form, with metal fins forming an entry canopy and providing protection from the western sun. An expansive glass facade allows daylight into program spaces and the connecting stairway, offering views of the adjacent open soccer field in the park setting.
