An iconic building embraces historical community elements.
1/1
The Village of Mundelein hired Wight to design a new building that would house village operations, leasable office space, and community amenities. As a public/private venture, the project required that we work closely with the Village’s development partner, Weston Solutions, who was set to occupy office space on the second floor of the new building.
The building is prominently sited along the Metra rail line linking this northern suburb to downtown Chicago and was therefore positioned to become an icon for Mundelein’s identity.
The building design is inspired by historical elements in the community, but also reflects a progressive local government that is forward-looking and adaptive to change. The building incorporates numerous sustainable strategies and has achieved LEED Gold Certification.
The sustainable design and building strategies of Mundelein's Village Hall earned it the USGBC's LEED Gold Certification.
