Facing a lease expiration in June 2021, Metropolitan Family
Services engaged Wight & Company to design a new space for their
administrative headquarters. Pre-lease activities were disrupted by the
pandemic and led the team to re-examine how to best support the organization’s
165-year commitment to Chicago and surrounding communities. Subleasing a floor
in an existing building represented an idea solution.
With amenities important for their future work environment, the
reimagined space includes a new front entry and reception area, a mix of open workspaces
and private focus rooms, and a specialized conference room that not only
accommodates all board members but also includes state of the art technology
for hybrid meetings. The designers took care to repurpose furnishings wherever
possible to ensure the project stayed under budget. To tie it all together,
Wight worked with the Metropolitan Family Service’s Communications and
Marketing Department to apply the organization’s branding elements throughout
the space, truly making it their own.
Since 1857, Metropolitan Family Services has empowered families
to learn, to earn, to heal and to thrive. Wight & Company is pleased to be
part of their continuing mission to serve the community.
