Lawrence Gateway is bounding with opportunities and possibilities. A gateway can be a physical threshold, it can represent a neighborhood, it can provide space for the community to meet, it can be a symbol of the future, and it can be the image that stays in one’s memory. The most impactful thresholds accomplish all of these things becoming an integral part of a neighborhood and the urban environment.

Located at the eastern entry to the Albany Park neighborhood and along the Chicago River, the 44,544 sf project provides a landmark at well as a gateway that reinforces the identity of the neighborhood. It also has the opportunity to connect Albany Park to the larger Chicago River ecosystem in a meaningful way. The project design establishes an identity, responds to its context, connects with its community, and ultimately creates a landmark.

The new five-story, residential-over-retail building designed to serve as a community anchor and aims to serve young professionals and families by offering convenient proximity to natural amenities including riverfront parks, bikeways, local retail, and a short walk to the CTA Brown Line. The project integrates sustainable features such as a highly insulated building envelope, stormwater management, EV charging stations, and is designed to be solar ready.

Positioned as a gateway to Albany Park, a diverse and inclusive neighborhood with a rich community history, Lawrence Gateway embodies smart design by connecting culture, environment, and community. The project aligns with the area’s vibrant identity while contributing to its future growth.
