Modernizing the transit experience in Chicago for generations to come

CTA is proposing to make improvements to the Red and Purple Lines as part of the Red & Purple Modernization Project. The improvements are proposed to increase capacity and bring the existing transit stations, track systems, and structures into a state of good repair, from the track structure immediately north of Belmont station to the Linden terminal (9.5 miles), in accordance with the project’s purpose and need.
Wight was responsible for analyzing the environmental impacts for transportation, visual and aesthetics, construction, floodplains, energy impacts, and cumulative impacts.
