The 9th District Police Station, located along Halsted Street from 31st Street south to just past 32nd Street, also achieved LEED Gold Certification. It includes a 250-vehicle parking structure for the public and police personnel. The new facility is based on a 42,000 sf prototype design and is nearly five times the size of the original building that was located at 3501 South Lowe.
The 23rd District Police Station was built along Halsted Street at Waveland and Addison Streets. The project includes a 361-vehicle, four-level parking structure for the public and police personnel. It is based on a 42,000 sf prototype design for Chicago police stations. The new station was built alongside the existing police department which is a historic building and achieved LEED Gold Certification.
Both the 9th and 23rd Districts Police Stations achieved LEED Gold Certification through the USGBC.
