Since 1982, the Chicago Maritime Museum has committed to collect, restore, and display artifacts of Chicago’s rich maritime history. The new museum space inside the Bridgeport Art Center, was designed by Wight's principal, Dirk Lohan. The 8,000-sf space is used for collections storage, a resource library, and a permanent exhibit hall. The museum introduces visitors to Chicago’s centuries-old maritime history and its significance to the growth and development of the city of Chicago.
