Leanne Meyer-Smith is a distinguished professional with over 30 years of experience in client-centered design and project management, specializing in educational and civic facilities. As a Principal at Wight & Company, she balances the demands of client leadership with driving overall business growth. Leanne is also instrumental in supporting the launch of AmplifyED Studio, a design collective that utilizes a design thinking-based approach to help school districts create dynamic learning environments that empower students.
Her extensive experience in PK-12 Education spans campus-wide facility assessments, master planning, new construction, and complex interior renovations. Leanne’s ability to collaborate effectively with public and educational clients has given her a deep understanding of the importance of consensus-building and strategic planning. This expertise positions her to guide clients from the earliest stages of a capital program through to project completion, ensuring spaces that positively impact communities and future generations. Leanne’s commitment to community extends well beyond her practice. She serves on the Naperville Heritage Society Board, City of Naperville Museum Board, and the Diocese of Joliet Buildings and Properties Committee.
Leanne stays at the forefront of the industry as a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Strategic Council. She is also a member and past president of the AIA Illinois Board of Directors, as well as a past president of the AIA Northeast Illinois chapter.
