A Legacy of Environmental Leadership
For more than 20 years, environmental stewardship has been a core value for Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125. The WELL Platinum certification is just the latest chapter in the district’s long-standing commitment to sustainable, high-performance design. The campus boasts an impressive list of accolades:
- WELL Platinum: Patriot Wellness Center & Fieldhouse
- LEED Gold: Stevenson Campus, Patriot Wellness Center & Fieldhouse
- LEED Platinum: East Building Addition
- Zero Energy Certification (IFLI): East Building Addition – First Zero Energy commercial building in Illinois
- Living Architecture Performance Tool (LAPT) Platinum: East Building Addition – First in the world
And the momentum continues—the Fieldhouse is currently pursuing LEED Zero certification, which would mark another first for this building type in Illinois.
Turning Policy into Practice
Stevenson High School’s approach to sustainability is not just about buildings—it's about vision. By embedding sustainability into every aspect of campus planning and operations, the district is actively reducing its carbon footprint and conserving natural resources.
The results are clear: healthier learning environments, reduced environmental impact, and a model for how schools can lead the way in wellness-focused, sustainable design. From LEED EBOM to WELL Platinum, every certification reflects Stevenson’s commitment to a future where students thrive in spaces designed for their well-being.
