Wight & Company is pleased to announce that Scott Steffes, AIA, has joined the architecture, engineering and construction firm, as project director, leading integrated teams on large-scale multi-sector projects.
“We are very enthusiastic that Scott is contributing his technical expertise and deep experience with local and international projects to Wight & Company,” said Mark Wight, chairman and chief executive officer of Wight & Company. “Scott has proven himself to be particularly adept at building relationships that span disciplines and time zones, a skill that is crucial in this new normal. We know Scott will be instrumental in supporting our firm’s growth initiatives.”
Steffes brings to Wight & Company a passion for technical design excellence and a multidisciplinary approach to management. He was most recently an associate director/studio head at the design firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, where he played a key role in high-profile mixed-use, educational, commercial and cultural projects that span the globe. Previously, Steffes worked at Kohn Pedersen Fox in New York. He began his career at Tsoi/Kobus & Associates in Boston.
“I’ve been fortunate to work on projects with both a high level of complexity and a high degree of community engagement, so naturally I was drawn to Wight & Company’s wide-ranging and impactful portfolio,” said Steffes. “I look forward to diving into our current project roster and working side-by-side with a talented group of professionals who are equally dedicated to creating spaces that focuses on exceptional design, sustainability and purpose.”
A graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in architecture, Steffes maintains close ties to the school’s architecture department, serving on its advisory council and as a juror and studio review critic. He was a design studio instructor at Boston Architectural College and is a regular studio review critic at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and other local design programs. He is also an active member of the American Institute of Architects, U.S. Green Buildings Council and the National Council of Architectural Registration Board.
